Club Background

We have three active committees. They are:

  1. Trails
  2. Campground
  3. Fund Raising

Accomplishments

  1. Over 1700 volunteer workday labor hours and $54,000 invested in projects.
  2. Spring and fall clean-up of Horserider's Camp.
  3. Ongoing participation in the DNR's "Adopt-A-Trail" program.
  4. Funded repair of trail erosion.
  5. Installed "Your are Here" signs along the trail.
  6. Replaced pointy-edged snowmobile trail markers with a safer horse-friendly version.
  7. Funded and installed a hitching rail and bench on the scenic overlook on the Crooked Lake Trail.
  8. Funded and installed lights in the horse shelter and pit toilets at Horserider's Camp.
  9. Installed mile markers and road crossing signs along the main linear trail.
  10. Purchased clean up tools for the campground.
  11. Purchased and planted 15 shade trees around the picnic area on Jersey Flats.
  12. Funded and installed a hitching rail, mounting block, and picnic table at 5 rest areas along trail.
  13. Created a trail map which we supply and stock at parking areas.
  14. Funded and completed the conversion of tie stalls to box stalls in the covered horse shelter at Horserider's Camp.
  15. Coordinated funding and installed 32 - 10x10' pipe corrals for Horserider's Camp.

Primary Fund Raiser

Dinner, Dance, Silent Auction, and Raffle held annually the 2nd Saturday in November.

Donations: All monies and items donated to the NKMHTA are used to fund equestrian-related projects in the Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest and surrounding areas. The NKMHTA has a 501-C3 tax status which qualifies it as a non-profit organization, thus donations toward its efforts may be tax deductibile.
